Dutch Dakar
This was the best fan day we have had in years.
Thanks to everyone for joining in the good times 🥳
What used to be named ‘Dakar Pre Prologue’ and ‘Road to Dakar’ has now been revitalized into a new event and location.
The first edition of ‘Dutch Dakar’ was on Sunday, November 12, 2023 at the E3 Beach in Eersel.
Video Recap
Team De Rooy eye-catcher Dutch Dakar
The first Dutch Dakar event took place on the E3 beach in Eersel on Sunday, November 12. Of course, Team De Rooy was not missing and an impressive fleet of vehicles was at the bivouac.
With three De Rooy Classics, three Iveco Powerstar rally trucks, assistance vehicles and the hospitality trailer of Boss Machinery Team De Rooy, we can safely say that the legendary team from Son was an eye-catcher.
Team De Rooy also made its mark on the constructed course. The demonstrations were watched by many fans. Even though it is not a serious competition, the teams had a good time. Janus van Kasteren Jr. can call himself the winner of this new event. With Marcel Snijders and Darek Rodewald he defeated the Czech top rider Martin Macik jr., who had traveled to Eersel at the invitation of Janus.
The ladies of All Ladies Team De Rooy FPT score high in terms of attention. Throughout the day, fans took pictures with Anja van Loon, Floor Maten and Marije van Ettekoven. Great to see that the first all-Dutch women’s team in a truck is generating so much enthusiasm
Gerard de Rooy entertained the crowd along the track. The two-time Dakar winner replaced the slightly injured Michiel Becx in the truck of Becx Competition Team De Rooy FPT. This allowed the audience, who came in large numbers, to see the master himself in action again. Becx will take the wheel again in the Dakar rally with Edwin Kuijpers and Wuf van Ginkel at his side.
Team De Rooy Classics entered the track with The Bull. This legendary truck will participate in the Dakar Classic next January. Janus van Kasteren Sr. steered this DAF thoroughly over the course. A nice piece of nostalgia in the present. Van Kasteren Sr. takes Herman Keijsers and Twan Verkooyen on the adventure in Saudi Arabia.
Team De Rooy would like to thank the organization of the Dutch Dakar and compliment the great interest of fans and media in this wonderful event. There will be a lot of hard work in the coming weeks in the run-up to the shipment of the trucks. It will take place in the first weekend of December.
On Tuesday, November 28, all moving equipment will leave by boat from Barcelona to Saudi Arabia. The 2024 Dakar Rally will take place there from January 5th to 19th 2024.
