“Boss Machinery Team de Rooy FPT”
Boss Machinery equipe with driver Janus van Kasteren Jr., navigator Marcel Snijders and mechanic Darek Rodewald did go for first place today and started out with a fast pace. Unfortunately they had some minor difficulties half-way the special stage and therefore lost a lot of speed.
A bit later, they came across Mitchel van den Brink, who needed some tension straps to fix their truck. So the gentlemen stopped and gave theirs so Mitchel could repair his truck and keep continuing the race.
When hitting a sharp rock, they ran a flat tire again and immediately started checking out more mechanical issues they had before. The truck handled well but lost some power due to wear and tear on the drive shaft. This took some time replacing and fixing by expert mechanic Darek.
With these troubles along the way, they couldn’t finish in first place but still came in 6th place with only 16m09s behind Gert Huzink, who was first to finish this stage.
Becx Competition Team de Rooy FPT
Michiel Becx had a great day and came in 3rd place on stage 10. Also because of smart navigation from Edwin Kuijpers they had gained great time and overtook some other competitors.
And for the first time in this very tough edition of the Dakar Rally, they didn’t ran a flat tire. Wich can be marked down as a first in this years heavy and almost impossible ‘battle of the monsters’.
Overall they had great day with no problems along the way and were only 9 minutes apart from the first to finish.
Ladies Team de Rooy FPT
The tenth stage is enjoyment with a capital G for the Ladies
Anja van Loon, Floor Maten and Marije van Ettekoven are very satisfied with the eleventh fastest time in the tenth stage of the Dakar Rally. It was a fun stage that the ladies really enjoyed. Today we enjoyed ourselves with a capital G. This was further emphasized by a nice welcome at the finish of the stage.
“This was a really great day,” says Anja. “I thought it was a great stage to drive. We did have some areas with annoying stones, but much less than expected. The rest were beautiful sandy paths through very beautiful canyons. The view was also great, it’s almost a shame that you can’t enjoy it anymore.”
The ladies appear to handle the tires well. “We didn’t need spare tires today, but Vick Versteijnen didn’t have enough. So we gave one to him so he could continue. At the finish of the stage there were some friends of ours waiting to welcome us. That was a very nice surprise!”
Tomorrow the penultimate stage of this rally will be held, with 420 kilometers of speed remaining, anything can happen. It promises to be a physical challenge with many stones and a high chance of flat tires. The stage starts in Al Ula and finishes in Yanbu.
