Boss Machinery Team de Rooy FPT
Janus, Darek and Marcel started stage 12 on 5th position and had lots of dust from the predecessors who started earlier. Eventually they overtook Pascal de Baar because he had a flat tire, then the driver from Veldhoven could really pick up the pace.
Then the finish line was already in sight for the last stage of this tough edition was only 153 km. After 14 days of these hard conditions they enjoyed the scenery and beautiful landscapes of Saudi Arabia for the last time this year.
All three were very happy to make it in one piece across the final finish line and had a warm welcome from all other team members and crew. With one last stop on the finish podium they celebrated their accomplishments.
This was a very exciting race and everyone is proud of making it all the way. Tonight we all celebrate!
Becx Competition Team de Rooy FPT
Also very proud of their achievements are MIchiel Becx, Wuf van Ginkel and Edwin Kuijpers. They experienced a wonderful adventure with many setbacks and difficulties along the way but kept on going when it was at its toughest.
After 15 days of hard work, maximum effort and smart navigation by Edwin, they look back at a very successful edition of the Dakar Rally. Without these men driving this fast Powerstar Torpedo, none of the other equipes would have made it until the final stage.
Teamwork at its best by lending spare parts and assisting in mechanical engineering by Wuf van Ginkel, all in harsh environments in Saudi Arabia. Time for celebration with the entire team.
Ladies Team de Rooy FPT
Ladies writes history with 12th position in Dakar 2024
Anja van Loon, Floor Maten and Marije van Ettekoven wrote history in the Iveco Powerstar of Team De Rooy during the 2024 Dakar Rally. The three ladies finished 12th in the general truck classification and this has never been achieved before. In the final stage they are not surprised and reach their coveted finish.
“I am so happy and proud,” says Anja. “It was a really tough rally, but together with Floor and Marije we drove almost flawlessly. This is truly a dream come true. We came here to finish and now we just finished 12th overall, which is better than I could have hoped for. I am very proud of those girls, what a great achievement this is!”
During the last stage the ladies recorded the 14th fastest time. “I think this was one of the toughest editions ever, especially with the 48-hour stage. But we did it! Today wasn’t too bad, but we didn’t take any risks. The finish was the most important thing today. We didn’t experience anything again. We didn’t experience much during this Dakar anyway, that was our strong point. Just doing our own thing every day, and that earned us 12th place.”
“I’m sure our mom and dad would be very proud too. It was very nice to do this for them. I would also like to thank all sponsors and partners for their support. This of course also applies to the fans and the many messages I have received. I have already thanked Floor and Marije, but I could never have done it without them, and the De Rooy team. They provided a good truck every day, thank you! Finally, I would like to thank Erik for his support, tips and advice.”
