Introduction: Becx
During the upcoming Dakar Rally, which will be held from January 5 to 19, Team De Rooy will compete with three trucks in total.
In the run-up to the Dutch Dakar event, we would like to introduce the teams.
Michiel Becx
Pilot / Driver
The fast Brabander from Vessem is a great fan of motorsport. In the 2019 Dakar he started in a MitJet off-road buggy.
The following year he climbed into an Iveco Trakker.
In that rally truck he made his debut for Team De Rooy and served as a fast backup driver. Completing the rally was a childhood dream come true.
Becx then threw himself into the Arcane Project together with Hans Weijs. This year he made his return for Team De Rooy in Rallye du Maroc.
The rally was all about preparation for Dakar 2024. That mission succeeded and Becx Competition Team De Rooy even surprisingly became the overall winner in Morocco.
Edwin Kuijpers
Navigator
This man from Casteren has been a good duo with Michiel Becx for years
Kuijpers was there in the MitJet buggy, Iveco Trakker and also in the Arcane.
Now he is at the start of the world’s toughest rally for the fourth time.
Together the gentlemen have been in front of some pretty heated fires and that experience shows that Becx and Kuijpers understand each other well.
From the successful debut in the 2016 Libya rally, Edwin has been the man who navigates Becx. After the victory in Rallye du Maroc, people are looking forward to the upcoming Dakar rally with great confidence
Wuf van Ginkel
Mechanic
This expert from Ederveen will be joining Becx and Kuijpers for his 14th participation in the Dakar rally
In addition to being a driver, Van Ginkel has experience as a mechanic in the bivouac and this time he will be responsible for the technology from the cabin.
Wuf van Ginkel was co-founder of the Ginaf Rally Power team. After that period he was involved in Team De Rooy in various capacities.
In addition to all his skills and experience, Wuf is also an absolute team player. That important feature completes the picture.
During Rallye du Maroc it turned out that the well-trained duo of Becx and Kuijpers seamlessly transitioned into a super trio. With the victory in their pocket, Becx Competition Team De Rooy FPT will be confident at the start of Dakar 2024.
The aim is to drive as close as possible behind Team De Rooy leader Janus van Kasteren and thus achieve a good result in the Iveco Powerstar with the strong FPT power source.
Of course, we will also be present at the Dutch Dakar event. There, Dutch participants in the Dakar Rally present themselves to the public. The teams will show what they have to offer on a specially constructed track.
